Occupational Therapy, Team Lead
Board President
Connie Kohler
Connie Kohler joined the Operation Walk Virginia team in 2011 and was immediately hooked when she joined her first medical mission trip to Managua, Nicaragua in 2012.
Witnessing the extreme poverty and limited resources gave Connie a perspective of how important Operation Walk Virginia is to those in need. That mission motivated her to become more involved, eventually stepping into the role of Board President.
Having been on many trips, Connie is still in awe of the strength of the people that Operation Walk Virginia helps and is inspired by the passionate commitment the team has to our patients.
Connie has been an occupational therapist since 1997 and got a doctorate in OT in 2020. In her free time, Connie enjoys hanging out with her grown children, Lucas and Kiera, and her husband, Tom. Her hobbies include CrossFit, horseback riding, hiking, playing and listening to live music and walking her dogs, Rufus and Rosie.
“On my very first Operation Walk Virginia trip, I was blown away by the extreme poverty and limited resources. It literally rained on our patients in their hospital beds and we had to strategically place bedpans to collect the rain and protect the patients. They were so grateful and no one complained! I knew I wanted to continue to be a part of this amazing mission!”
