Mission Trip 2025: Panama
Our all-volunteer team of medical professionals will return to Panama City, Panama in January 2025.
Changing Futures
Many of our patients have never known a day in their life without pain. They suffer from debilitating bone and joint disorders, arthritis, or other deformities that make walking, working and basic everyday activities nearly impossible. In most of the countries we visit, people would have to pay out-of-pocket for all hospital care and surgical expenses. Without our mission, they could never afford to have these life-changing procedures. The people in these regions have little or no access to life-changing care. The ability to walk may mean the difference being able to work to support a family and being homebound forcing family members to do whatever necessary to survive.
Ongoing Partnerships
Our volunteers are highly-trained educators, administrators and clinicians who strive to support long-term care and ongoing education in the developing countries we impact. They dedicate their time to providing free joint replacement and rehabilitation services, while also fostering relationships with local doctors and therapists to enhance ongoing support and care.
One Step at a Time
There is a significant amount of work ahead! Each mission trip typically involves over 50 dedicated medical professionals. Our team includes an orthopedic surgeon, nurses, physician assistants, anesthesiologists, physical and occupational therapists, pre-operative and post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) nursing staff, and an operating room (OR) team.
Additionally, we meticulously prepare and transport all necessary supplies to perform 40 to 50 joint replacement surgeries throughout the week-long mission - usually about 8,000 pounds of equipment.
A typical trip to South or Central America costs nearly $150,000.
