Our Missions

Since 2006, Operation Walk Virginia has provided life-changing surgeries for patients with little to no access to medical care in developing countries. Our surgical teams have conducted more than 700 successful hip and knee replacements for patients suffering from debilitating bone diseases, transforming pain into possibility.


2006

Our first trip with Operation Walk LA to Hospital Roberto Calderon Gutierrez.

2007

Inaugural Operation Walk Virginia mission trip. The team returns to Hospital Roberto Calderon Gutierrez in Managua, Nicaragua, successfully performing 68 knee and hip replacements led by Dr. Gerard Engh.


2009

Led by Dr. Gerald Engh and Julie Warner, RN to Hospital de Los Valles, 48 patients received 60 total joint replacements.

Hospital Luis Vernaza

40 patients recieve 48 joint replacement surgeries at Hospital Roberto Calderon Gutierrez in Managua, Nicaragua.

Obras Sociales del Santo Hermano Pedro

40 patients and 44 surgeries completed in Guayaguil, Ecuador.

At Hospital Santo Tomas, the Operation Walk Team replaced 57 joints in 49 patients.

In Cuba, our 58-person team of medical professionals successfully operated on 41 patients, replacing a total of 28 knee and 24 hip joints.
